Presentation of the 2007/2008 UNDP Global Human Development Report in RussiaBuilding on the science of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Synthesis Report (2007) and the economics of the N. Stern Review The Economics of Climate Change (2006), UN Development Programme Human Development Report (HDR) “Fighting climate change: Human solidarity in a divided world” focuses on climate change consequences for human development and in particular for the poor. It offers recommendations for the solution of these problems. The Human Development Report is an independent report commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It is translated into more than a dozen languages and launched in more than 100 countries annually. Further information can be found at http://hdr.undp.org. The Moscow presentation will take place on 28 November 2007 at 15:00 in the premises of MGIMO University at the following address: 76 Prospect Vernadskogo, central entrance, conference hall 1 (Prospect Vernadskogo metro st.). Representatives of the authors’ team, interested government bodies, academic institutions, business community, diplomatic corps, UN agencies, non-governmental organisations and media will take part in the presentation. The presentation is organized by the UNDP with assistance of the Russian Regional Environmental Centre. The programme of the event includes exhibition of photos by RREC prepared in the frames of its joint media-training project with the British Embassy in Moscow. 30/01/2008 The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Russia (MEDT) has accomplished elaboration of legal framework for JI projects approval and implementation in Russia. 29 January 2008 all necessary orders of MEDT were finally registered in the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.

20/12/2007 The all-Russian contest for journalists “Climate Change – a Hot Topic”was organized by the Russian Regional Environmental Centre under the sponsorship of the British Embassy in Moscow and was aimed at enhancement of professional coverage of the climate change issues in mass-media, as well as at attraction of general public attention to the problem. The winners of the contest have been announced today.
