Renewable energy and energy efficiency

Energy problems are today among the most acute issues at the international arena and one of the subjects within G8 Dialogue.

Since recently energy discussions of G8 Group have becoming more oriented towards development of sustainable energy solutions.

Without doubts, Russia also needs today its own policy of energy security, which can follow the same course with the policies of other G8 countries.

International cooperation is supported by an intricate, multi-tier mechanism of interstate, scientific, business and information relations. One of its rather new and efficient components is international partnerships and initiatives.

From 2005 till 2009 RREC has been acting as a Regional Secretariat for .

RREC focuses its activities on the following priority areas:

  • Informing stakeholders on benefits and possibilities for development of clean energy solutions
  • Promotion and introduction of environmentally clean energy by creating a network of experts, databases, training of specialists, exchange of experience and best practices, demonstration of opportunities for profitable use of renewable energy and facilitation of energy efficiency improvement.
  • Supporting international cooperation on sustainable energy issues: forming public opinion, attracting the attention of governmental, business and international bodies to development of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sector.
